The International Yoga Day was celebrated at All Uniform Training Academy, KCIC, embracing the spirit of wellness and tranquillity through a series of enriching yoga sessions. The event highlighted the importance of yoga in promoting physical health, mental clarity, and peace of mind. Cadets and staff participated with great enthusiasm, finding a sense of balance and harmony amidst their rigorous training schedules. Under the serene environment of AUTA, surrounded by the sounds of nature. 

Yoga is an ancient physical, mental, and spiritual practice that originated in India. It is an art and science of healthy living. The word yoga is derived from Sanskrit word ‘Yuj’ meaning ‘to join’ or ‘to yoke’. As per yogic scriptures the practice of yoga leads to the union of individual consciousness with that of the Universal Consciousness, indicating the perfect harmony between the mind and body. According to modern scientists everything in the universe is just a manifestation of the same quantum firmament. One who experiences this oneness of existence is said to be in yoga and is termed as a yogi. Yoga is the spiritual discipline that aims to achieve eternal peace and harmony between body and mind and soul. It aims at cleansing our mind of mental pollutants and making our body physically fit.  

Today various forms of yoga are practiced around the world and the popularity of yoga continues to grow. Recognising the universal appeal on 11th of December 2014, the United Nations announced 21st June to be celebrated as International Day of Yoga to raise awareness worldwide about the enormous benefits of practicing yoga. This year marks the 10th International Day of Yoga and the theme for this year is “Yoga for Self and Society.”  

On International Yoga Day, AUTA witnessed an enthusiastic celebration with 141 candidates participating in the event. The participants practiced various asanas under the expert guidance of the academy’s staff, who ensured that each posture was performed with precision and care. The session began with a warm-up to prepare the body, followed by a sequence of asanas designed to enhance flexibility, strength, and inner peace. 

In addition to the physical postures, the event also included breathing practices (pranayama) and meditation sessions. These practices helped the cadets cultivate mindfulness, reduce stress, and achieve a profound sense of peace of mind. The serene environment of AUTA, accompanied by the sounds of chirping birds and rustling leaves, added to the overall sense of tranquillity. This celebration not only highlighted the importance of yoga in maintaining physical and mental health but also reinforced the academy’s commitment to fostering holistic well-being among its cadets. 

A brief yet impactful talk was given to raise awareness about the numerous benefits of yoga among the cadets. This informative session highlighted the importance of incorporating yoga into daily life, emphasizing its role in enhancing physical health, mental clarity, and overall well-being. The mentors at AUTA elaborated on how regular practice of yoga can improve flexibility, strength, and endurance, while also reducing stress and anxiety. The cadets were encouraged to adopt yoga as a holistic approach to maintain a balanced lifestyle, promoting both physical fitness and mental resilience. This talk aimed to inspire the cadets to embrace yoga as a valuable tool for self-care and personal growth, reinforcing the academy’s commitment to fostering a culture of wellness and harmony. 

After the invigorating yoga session, the cadets gathered to enjoy a healthy and nutritious breakfast. The meal was prepared by the dedicated kitchen staff, featured a balanced array of fruits, whole grains, and protein-rich options to ensure optimal nourishment. This breakfast not only replenished their energy but also reinforced the importance of maintaining a wholesome diet, aligning with the academy’s commitment to the overall well-being of its cadets. The serene atmosphere of the dining area, combined with the satisfaction of a hearty meal, set a positive tone for the rest of the day’s activities. 

The International Yoga Day celebration at AUTA was a testament to the academy’s commitment to fostering holistic well-being among its cadets. With the healthy participation of cadets, the event successfully highlighted the physical and mental benefits of yoga through various asanas, breathing practices, and meditation sessions.
